An Indepth History of Silver
Since ancient times silver has been highly regarded as a versatile healing
tool. In ancient Greece, Rome, Phoenicia, and Macedonia, silver was used
extensively to control infections and spoilage. Hippocrates, the “Father
of Medicine,” taught that silver healed wounds and controlled disease.
Around 400 B.C. he listed as a singular treatment for ulcers “the flowers
of silver alone, in the finest powder.” Herodotus describes how the
King of Persia carried with him boiled water in silver flagons to prevent
sickness. In 69 B.C., silver nitrate was described in the contemporary pharmacopoeia.

Be Careful Of Those Who Uniquely
Sell ‘the Truth’ About Colloidal
Pseudoscientific misinformation does a serious disservice to those who pursue
excellence in the manufacture of colloidal silver. The diatribes of the manufacturer
of Mesosilver™ are a case in point. Using three websites that appear
to be independent of each other to perfect the myth that it [sic] is the 'only
true colloid' made, this manufacturer subverts scientific fact to trick the
unwary consumer. What is presented there is simply the most self-serving pseudoscience
that can be found anywhere.

Particulate vs. Ionic Silver – The
End of the Debate
The premise that ‘particulate’ (elemental) silver is the only true
colloid and that only it is effective as an antimicrobial was spurious from
the beginning.

Comparative Bacteriology Analysis:
Mesosilver – Advanced Colloidal Silver (XX46A) vs. Sovereign
Silver(s)
The purpose of this study was to compare and contrast the inhibition of the
above specimen (silver preparation) with Sovereign Silver (SS) on both normal
and antibiotic resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus (“Staph”).
This was accomplished by inoculating healthy Staph cultures with such silvers
on standard YT plates, then placing them in a 37° C incubator overnight.

Comparative Bacteriology Analysis:
Particulate vs. Ionic Silver
Claims have been made by the manufacturer of Mesosilver that suggest "ionic" silver
potency is compromised by Hydrochloric Acid (HCl) in the stomach, and that
only the particulate [species], elemental silver (i.e. the primary content
in Mesosilver) will survive and therefore be effective in inhibiting microorganisms.
Whether or not HCl in the stomach is an issue is well beyond the scope of this
paper. Herein we are going to deal with only one issue: the antimicrobial effect
of 'particulate' (elemental) vs. (free) 'ionic' silver.

Case Study - Inhibition of Staphylococcus
Aureus by various silver products (III)
The purpose of this study was to compare and contrast the inhibition of various
types of silvers on both normal and antibiotic resistant strains of Staphylococcus
aureus ("Staph"). Antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria are increasing
at an alarming rate. Review an encouraging study showing the Inhibition of
